We have been working with Morssinkhof Plastics for over twenty years. Over the years, we have supported the company with reliable measurement solutions for a wide range of applications. When Morssinkhof approached us with a challenge involving level measurement in a buffer tank, we worked together to find the best solution.
At Morssinkhof Plastics, a buffer tank is used as part of the thermal oil system that supplies a tumble dryer. This tank must maintain a certain oil level at all times to ensure that the drying process runs reliably.
The existing system was equipped with a conventional Level Gauge . Although this system had been in service for many years, it proved to be prone to leaks. This resulted in frequent oil spills on the floor, which is not only undesirable for operations but also raises concerns during inspections and checks. In addition, the customer wanted to improve the reliability of the entire system.
During an on-site visit, we conducted a thorough assessment of the existing situation and discussed the customer’s requirements. The original request was Level Gauge a comparable classic Level Gauge . The customer also mentioned that they had had less-than-satisfactory experiences with magnetic level indicators in the past, particularly regarding the design and readability of the display.
Based on the situation, we proposed an alternative: a magnetic level indicator manufactured in-house. During the meeting, we explained in detail how this solution differs from the systems with which the customer had had less-than-satisfactory experiences in the past.
By showing an example of the display, we were able to immediately demonstrate how the readability and quality of our design set it apart. We also explained that with a magnetic level indicator, potential leak points are limited to the flange connections. Compared to a traditional Level Gauge this significantly Level Gauge the risk of leaks.
In addition to improved reliability, the solution also offers a much more easily readable level indicator, allowing operators to check the oil level more quickly and easily.
Morssinkhof Plastics has now chosen our solution and ordered a magnetic level indicator. Once it is delivered, it will be installed on the buffer tank.
With this new version, the customer expects to put an end to the leakage problems that occurred with the old system. This will not only improve the safety and cleanliness of the installation, but also the reliability of the entire thermal oil system.
There is a high level of confidence in the solution. Once the first system is operating satisfactorily, the plan is to gradually equip the remaining 38 dryers—all of which have their own buffer tanks—with the same solution. This first system may thus serve as the starting point for a large-scale modernization of level measurement throughout the plant.
